With the team at Project CARS we held our third VR Night at our facility last Thursday. And with the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach taking place that weekend, CXC Simulations was packed with people excited for the weekend’s Indycar, IMSA, Pirelli World Challenge and Stadium Super Truck racing.
This was a special VR Night as it was the first time that Project Cars 2 would be shown publicly. As part of that reveal, Project CARS made the RallyCross portion of their game available for the first time as well. We were very proud that the world debut of Project Cars 2 and its RallyCross capabilities were at CXC on our Motion Pro IIs.
Another big feature of Project CARS 2 is the addition of the Long Beach Grand Prix circuit, which the Project CARS 2 team created by laser scanning the circuit during last year’s event. With the Grand Prix starting the next day, the track was a big hit. We outfitted our Motion Pro IIs with VR headsets and put our attendees behind the wheel of the Acura NSX GT3 and Honda-Dallara DW12 Indycar – both of which were racing at Long Beach – and had them blast around the circuit.
Adding to the evening, the Red Bull Honda Global Rally Cross team announced its driver lineup during VR Night. GRC race-winner Sebastian Eriksson stays with the team and will be joined by the 2014 and 2015 Red Bull GRC Lites champions, Mitchel DeJong and Oliver Eriksson. All three drivers were on hand to provide coaching to the VR Night attendees who were trying out RallyCross.
Our thanks to Honda, Project CARS 2, MOMO, Pirelli World Challenge and Golden Road Brewery for a great evening.
